Day 1
Marrakech to Taroudant et Tiznit Tast Mountains. The journey starts crossing the city of Tahanaout (KM 32). The road takes you to the green landscapes of the region of Asni and Ouirgân passing through the valley where old kasbahs stand, you will reach the TiziN Test pass (2092 meters). This traditional crossing point was held by the Berber tribes due to the kasbah they had built until the beginning of the century. This journey is an opportunity to discover the varied and grandiose panoramas of the High Atlas with its villages of land and terraced crops. Passing through Ouirgane, the road becomes more twisted and more spectacular. The dam of Ouirgane gives way to Oued which has been digging for thousands of years an impressive canyon.
It is reaching Taroudant with its ramparts that rise in the middle of Sous valley to discover its nine gates. In a setting of subtle charms, the medina seems to have changed very little since the times of conquerors. And what is exceptional is that over this peaceful city floats the memories of a flourishing past first Almohad, then Marinid and Saadian, Portuguese and French. We will explore the Berber souks and discover the treasures hidden in the medina’s little street front stalls.

Day 2
In the early morning, we headed towards Tafraout. This is an unforgettable world-class drive through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Morocco, Two mountain passes give ever more spectacular views. As we approach Tafraout, the mountains rise. Above our heads, the rock is tinged with pink. Located on the foothills of the Anti-Atlas at 1200m altitude, Tafraout owes its name to a vertiginous panorama that is opened on a
valley-shaped bowl. The architectural curiosity of this region is the presence of a high concentration of Agadir or collective granaries.
Once you arrive you will realize Tafraoute is worth the effort. You can discover the sweets of its precious oils, and especially its famous tagine with almonds and prunes and the incandescent summits offer a striking spectacle at sunset. Thus, spending the night there gives you a kind of calm and tranquility as well as spiritual safety. We will spend our time here visiting the famous Painted Rocks and ancient sacred granaries in the second day.
The Painted Rocks, or near Tafraoute are a captivating sight, showcasing the harmonious blend of nature and art. Created by Belgian artist Jean Verame in 1984, these granite boulders were transformed into an outdoor art canvas. The choice of colors and the vastness of the canvas create an amazing site scattered against the stark, natural landscape of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. The Painted Rocks draw visitors from around the globe, offering a unique experience that is a blend of natural beauty and artistic expression. The sacred granaries, present another fascinating aspect of Tafraoute is heritage.
These ancient fortified structures were not only used for storing grain and other valuable commodities but also served as a defensive stronghold during times of conflict. Constructed high in the mountains Their stone and earth-built walls blend seamlessly into the rugged landscape. The interiors are divided into numerous compartments, each owned by a different family, highlighting the community-oriented culture of the Berber people. The Agadir’s, with their historical and cultural significance, stand as silent witnesses to the Berber tribes, resilience and ingenuity in confronting the challenges of their harsh, mountainous environment. A visit to these ancient granaries provides an unexpected journey into the past, offering a glimpse into the traditional Berber way of life.
Day 3
Today and after your breakfast we will make a day trip to the granaries in Tafraoute town. around two hours to go and two hours back, we will be able to see a lot and spectacular land scape during the way. In our arrival time we will take the walk inside the amazing granaries.
These structures are typically composed of a granary and a catidral and are located in rocky, elevated locations to protect surrounding farms and livestock from enemies. In Morocco, they were typically built either of rammed earth or of dry stole masonry. Some of the large examples built in dry stone consist of multi-story structures laid out along narrow internal alleys. Each story is made up of a row of cell-like rooms, with upper rooms being accessible from the outside via protruding stones inserted into the facades. Rammed-earth constructions are more common in the High Atlas region, where the design of Agadir’s is more akin to that of the region’s traditional houses, sometimes featuring exterior decoration executed in mud Burk Multi-level structures are also known in southern Tunisia, where they are known as a ghorfa though only a few have been preserved today. These consist of cell-like rooms stacked over each other up to four stories, with their entrances all facing an internal yard or court.
Day 4
In the early morning and after breakfast, we will drive to Agadir from Tafraoute town, we will cross the anti-atlas, travel through Ameln Valley, take in panoramic views from Kerdous Peak, meet locals, and find ancient traditions. Enter a world of breathtaking beauty into the Anti-Atlas Mountains. And see how Nature has excelled herself in a jagged landscape. After lunch, we are going to continue to the silver capital, Tiznit, which has cultivated a glowing reputation for its silver jewelry and friendly residents. After the visit to Tiznit, drive on to Agadir. Check into your beachfronthotel.
Day 5
We will explore the coastal wonders of the Sousse – National Park, and if the season is right perhaps do some birding. Return to your hotel in the afternoon for beach time and a relaxing evening.
Souss-Massa National Park Located just south of Agadir, the Souss-Massa National Park is a mesmerizing natural gem, home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park spans over 33,800 hectares, encompassing diverse ecosystems from sandy dunes and coastal cliffs to Argan forests. This unique blend of habitats is host to an impressive array of wildlife, including a significant number of migratory and resident bird species. It is especially renowned as the habitat of the endangered Northern Bald Ibis.
As you venture further into the park, the murmurs of the city give way to the tranquil sounds of nature. Walking trails allow visitors to explore and immerse themselves in the serene surroundings. Keep an eye out for the many species of birds that call this park home, from flamingos and spoonbills to the iconic Northern Bald Ibis.
The park also houses traditional Berber villages, where residents maintain age-old practices of farming and herding. Experiencing the peaceful simplicity and warm hospitality of these village communities add a rich cultural dimension to the visit.
After a day of exploring, we will find a quiet spot to watch the golden sunset over the park and listen to the sounds from the nocturnal creatures.
Day 6
Kick-start the day with a hearty breakfast before embarking on the journey to Essaouira. Take the coastal route, enjoying the cool sea breeze and the enchanting views of the Atlantic coastline. Along the road, there will be opportunities to stop at local Argan oil cooperatives.
The women-run cooperatives offer insights into the traditional process of making Argan oil, which is a key component in Moroccan cuisine and cosmetic products.
Arriving in Essaouira in the afternoon, check into your hotel and then head out to explore the city. Known for its vibrant arts scene, strong winds making it a paradise for surfers, Essaouira is a fusion of cultures, with influences from Berber, Portuguese, and French heritage. Wander through the narrow streets of its old Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, marveling at the well-preserved 18th-century seaport architecture. Overnight stay in Essaouira.
Day 7
On the final day of the tour, after breakfast, you have the morning to explore Essaouira further. Visit the local market, where you can buy unique local souvenirs. After lunch, prepare for the return journey to Marrakesh. In road, stop at an Argan tree area to witness the unique sight of goats climbing the trees.
Arrive in Marrakesh in the evening, marking the end of a memorable journey through southwestern Morocco diverse landscapes, history, and culture. Spend the night in Marrakesh before your departure the next day.
Day 8
An exciting day awaits you as Marrakesh’s heady sights and sounds will dazzle, frazzle and enchant. Our morning city tour will include: Bahia Palace and the Dar Si Said are a riot of tile work and intricate floral painted-wood ceilings. Then, learn about the Berber culture, and follow their steps along the trade routes from North Africa to the Sahel at the Tiskiwin Museum, its displays range from authentic Berber tents and carpets to fine basketwork and ancient jewelry. Continue to Dar El Bacha considered one of the most beautiful palaces in the red city. Visitors can discover the ceiling with multicolored mosaics and Berber-style architecture. After taking time to go to the Jamaa L’Fna square and witness the astonishing spectacle of Djem find juice stalls, water sellers, and snake charmers by day and dancing boys, storytellers, and magicians by night. Overnight at the hotel.
