General Booking & Planning

We recommend booking at least 4-6 months in advance, especially during peak seasons (March-May and September-November). This will ensure better availability and accommodation options. Note: Check Ramadan dates when planning, as this affects restaurant hours and cultural experiences.

Yes, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and personal belongings. Morocco has good medical facilities in major cities, but insurance provides peace of mind, especially for adventure activities and remote desert areas.

Most nationalities can enter Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days, including US, Canadian, EU, UK, and Australian citizens. However, visa requirements can change, so please check with the Moroccan consulate or embassy in your country before traveling.

Money & Payments

You’ll need a mix of both:

  • Cash (Moroccan Dirhams) is needed for Souks/markets, local restaurants, tips, small vendors, rural areas, and the Sahara desert, where there are no ATMs
  • Credit cards accepted at hotels, upscale restaurants, and tourist shops in major cities
  • ATMs are widely available in cities like Marrakech, Fez, and Casablanca, but scarce in remote areas and the desert

Recommendation: Bring your bank ATM card. You can withdraw cash in dirhams from major bank ATMs in the cities before heading to rural/desert areas. US Dollars and Euros can be exchanged at banks and exchange offices.

What to Wear & Pack

Morocco is a Muslim country, so modest dress is respectful and recommended:

  • For women: Long pants/skirts, shirts covering shoulders, loose-fitting clothes
  • For men: Long pants, shirts with sleeves
  • Desert tours: Light, breathable fabrics for day, warm layers for evening
  • Mountain tours: Layered clothing, waterproof jacket, sturdy hiking boots
  • City tours: Comfortable walking shoes, modest casual wear

Essential items include:

  • Sunscreen (high SPF), sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hat
  • Warm layers for cold desert nights
  • Comfortable closed-toe shoes for walking on sand
  • Scarf/bandana for sand protection
  • Personal water bottle
  • Camera with extra batteries/power bank

Your Sahara Desert Experience

No, camel riding is optional on all our desert tours. We offer camel trekking as a traditional experience, but if you prefer not to ride, you can:

  • Walk alongside the camel caravan
  • Take a 4WD vehicle to the desert camp
  • Enjoy the desert camp experience without the camel trek
  • Watch the sunset/sunrise from the dunes on foot

Yes! Our desert camps feature:

  • Traditional Berber-style tents with real beds
  • Shared bathroom facilities with running water
  • Traditional Moroccan dinner and breakfast
  • Evening entertainment with local music
  • Some camps offer private tents with en-suite bathrooms (premium options)

Health & Safety

Yes, Morocco is generally very safe for tourists. Our experienced guides accompany all tours, and we follow established routes with reliable accommodations. We recommend standard travel precautions, such as securing valuables and staying with your group, letting your guide and companions know where you are.

We work with trusted restaurants and accommodations. Bottled water is provided on all tours. Our guides can advise on local food safety, and most travelers experience no issues when following basic precautions.

Accommodation & Transportation

Accommodations vary by tour but typically include:

  • Traditional 4  or 5-star riads in the medinas
  • Desert camps in the Sahara
  • Mountain guesthouses or hotels
